Where can I purchase lighting equipment? I am starting a Professional Make Up business and I am looking for some natural lighting stands(inexpensive) to use . Tips for Photoshoot and cheap lighting equipment? Hi, my friends and I are planning a photoshoot next week mainly for fun but also for furthering my photographic skills. It's my first time to do a planned photoshoot, most of my shots are spontaneous, street and experimental. So I think I'm really going to be conscious of thinking beautiful poses, angles, concepts for a photograph. I use a Canon A700, a point-and-shoot digital camera, not that I'm bettling my camera (I love my camera) but it does have its limitations like not having the capability of adjusting DOF (unlike dslrs) which is very essential in portrait photography... As much as I love natural lighting in photographs, I also want to take it to another level like using studio light. But I'm really really clueless when it comes to it. What should I start with?
Where can I purchase quality lighting equipment online? My friend is starting a photography business and she has several good cameras (digital and film) but nothing as far as lighting. She's also my wedding photographer and I'd like to buy her something as gift that she could use on the day.
What kind of lighting equipment is best for fashion photography? I am looking to make my photos crystal clear without shadows. I already have a paper backdrop, and 2 strobe lights- but its not enough light that hits my model. Personally the photographs do not come out with a light background rather then a dark one. I would like some advice on what camera is best too Thanks!
What photography lighting equipment would be needed for Graduation Ball? (UK)? I have been doing wedding photography and nightclub photography fo a year now and have recently been asked to do portraits and a Graduation Ball.... Difficulty of photography lighting equipment? I am considering purchasing 2 side softboxes and a 3rd softbox on a boom, as well as some backdrops on ebay. I was wondering, though, I do not have experience with lighting equipment. Is it very difficult to learn how to use? Are there a bunch of settings that you have to be familiar with?
Is Cowboy Studio lighting equipment a quality investment? I'm an amateur photographer who's becoming more interested in learning how to use studio lighting. I've been looking around and found some seemingly good packages from Cowboy Studio. It's extremely affordable and in the pictures looks like pretty solid stuff, i was wondering if anyone's had past experience with this brand and if they would recommend it or may have some words of caution. Thanks
Compatible Canon and Nikon lighting equipment? I started a photo business with my friend but I have a Nikon D40 and she has a Canon Rebel XTi.... We need lighting and I was just wondering if there was lighting that works for both canon and nikon.

What type of studio lights, reflectors, and equipment do I need for home studio lighting? I own a Nikon D40 with a 18-55mm lens/wide angle and macro lens. I have taken beautiful photos outside with natural light, but when it comes to taking nice portraits at home-it doesn't look right. I would like to take photographs and have Rembrandt lighting on my subjects. I would like the opinions of photographers/graphic designers-and anyone else that seriously knows. Thank you very much for your input.
What kind of light equipment should I buy? I am into wedding photography (small weddings), and need to know which equipment is best/recommended. I have looked up alien bees, and really like the "lower" prices and quality...but they are still very expensive. Shutterbugs, please me help with lighting equipment purchase.!? I have a Canon S3 IS, 6 mega pixels. I'm thinking about getting a 'continous' lighting system ,ie...2 lite stands, w/umbrellas, 1 boom arm, and misc parts, (it comes in a kit.) I don't think i need a 'flash' lighting system, is this true.? I do not own a SLR camera and I'm just getting started with portraits as a hobby. am i on the right path?
Photography Lighting Equipment ? I am looking at getting some studio lighting equipment that is portable - ie for taking to peoples homes to take their portaits etc. Just wondering what equipment people use - 2 lights? 3 lights? etc and if anyone could recommend a place to get the equipment from. What sort of equipment for a simple sound system and lighting? I'm putting on a performance in an old town hall, and I will need to play music from cds, but I don't know what kind of equipment I need. Is there a way to connect a standard cd player to loud-speakers? If not, what else could I use instead, and where can I buy it? I also want to have several mics for the singers - how do you hook mics up to speakers? I heard that it is really expensive to rent a spot light - is there another alternative? Maybe something I can get at Home Depot? It doesn't have to be professional; it can be really simple - the stage is very small. I'm just not sure where to start. What equipment should I look for, and where can I find it? Where can I find the things I need for fewer dollars?

Couple questions about studio lighting equipment...? I am going to experiment with studio lighting and need to know even the basics. What kind of equipment do I need other than lighting? What is the piece that goes on the hot shoe of the camera? Like, it looks like an antenna, but what is the TECHNICAL name called?! Also, is a light meter a must? Any and all help is appreciated! TIA!
Question about studio lighting equipment? I am putting together a list of possible equipment I'd need to build a little garage photo studio. And am trying to figure out some details with regards to lighting. I'm going to be pretty much exclusively shooting digital (film has just gotten too expensive and time consuming). Are lighting concerns for digital going to be any different than for film? I've seen three types of lighting elements, Florescent, Tungsten, and Halogen. Is halogen the best kind of lighting to use? With film you could get special film for tungsten, sunlight, etc. Since digital can't really be swapped out like film can, does anyone know what type of lighting works best with digital? Recycle times on the power supplies seems to increase with the more expensive units. Is this because the more expensive units are designed to push more energy out and that requires longer recycle? Being that this is mainly just going to be in my garage, I'm not going to be needing immense amounts of light, but would rather be able to take quick pictures, at times maybe even .5 seconds apart. If I lower the power out of the power supply will they recharge faster? Are there any drawbacks to doing that? Can that even be done? Does it matter that the light and power supply come from different companies or do they make them so they're not interchangeable? Are there any particular brand that's noteworthy? Can just about all of the lighting units provide constant lighting (in addition to the flash) so that I don't have to have other (different spectrum) lights on at the same time? Sorry if my questions sound noobiesh, I've only just recently done a photo session with real studio lighting and was very impressed with what a difference it made over my regular flash. Pricewise, I'd rather buy something good that will not need to be upgraded/replaced in the next 3 or 4 years. I'm willing to pay the extra cost to get something reliable and good. Not super big dollars, I'm not a commercial photographer, just a serious amateur.
lighting equipment, flashes? I'm planning on getting 580ex II speedlite for my camera(canon rebel XT). I have no lighting at all. So I thought this was the best thing to get? Do you think this is the best thing to invest in first? Other than other lighting equipment: strobes, soft boxes, alien bees, etc... I have a backdrop, stand, tripod and all that but no lighting equipment. I eventually want to buy more but am getting a little bit at a time. Any advice/tips will be helpful! Thanks I take pictures indoor and outdoor. Lighting is a problem when I'm shooting indoors.. I take pictures indoor and outdoor. When I shoot indoor I have to bump the iso up really high and I don't want to do that
help me on tips for lighting equipment!!!!!? I am a beginning photographer in experience of having clients and doing shoots for others, but I do know photography. I would like to have you recommend studio lighting for me in brand, type (a set? what should be in the set? and a 2 piece or 3 piece?) and any other tips. Because I am starting out, have few clients bc my name isn't out there and I live in a small town where I doubt I'll be too busy (its a side job I'm going to use this for) I don't need the best brand, the best equipment, or the most expensive. I would like something that could be portable. I could even look into the equipment used. So please what should I look for in new or used lighting? Keep in mind how much I'm going to use it and my experience as stated above. I don't know lighting at all so I need any details you can give me. So far I've just used natural indoor lighting for indoor shoots and the lamp light. Then I edit the picture on photoshop.
lighting indoor portraiture shoots without professional equipment? i'm using an olympus e-510 (with tripod) and have tried using several domestic lamps for lighting. i've been struggling with tone and clarity in my photographs, in spite of adjusting manual settings repeatedly throughout my shoots. i can't afford expensive materials and would greatly appreciate any tips and or suggestions on how to use household items to create and reflect light on a subject. thanks in advance! i prefer not using flash.
Photographic Studio Lighting Equipment and Set Up Help! Hi guys I recently qualified as a photographer, but now I need to buy my studio! I need to know everything! I have enough lighting stands and tripods but what equipment do I need? I already have a backdrop and a 110cm reflector (5 in 1) I was thinking to have 2 soft boxes and 2 strobes but which ones are good on a budget (preferably under £650 in total)? If this is not the best set up please voice your own opinion! I have some umbrellas (gold, white and silver) and I tied setting off a flash gun with a cheap remote release but the camera didn’t compensate for the extra flash, so I also need a transmitter for the strobes that will allow the camera to compensate for the extra light! I was thinking to buy 2 more flash guns and set them all up wirelessly , will that allow the camera to compensate for the white balance? Please, all ideas welcome!!! PS I have a Canon Eos 350d which I will soon upgrade to either a 40d or 450d (Please tell me which one is better!) with a Canon 430ex flash gun Thanks in advance!
Making your own lighting equipment? I am trying to get started in professional photography but i do not have a studio yet. Right now i can only do pictures on location or outdoors. I have had other people look at my photos and they all say i need more lighting because of the shadows on the faces. Can anyone tell me how to make my own lighting equipment that i could use outdoors or indoors? Or reflectors? In case you're interested, here's a link to some of my photos: http://flickr.com/photos/27559626@N08/
Lighting for photography - What are the difference between this three? I need to know what is the difference between power pack strobes, monolights, and continous lighting equipment. I also need to know what are the advantages? Disadvantages? And possible uses for each besides the obvious of "lighting?" I hope that makes sense. I just think that each lighting equipment is used to photograph particular things.
What is the best film equipment for teens? I mainly need suggestions for lighting equipment and animation. I already have the editing software that they will use(Final Cut Pro). If anyone knows any cameras that have firewire , let me know. All these items need to be compatible with Macs.

I prefer to keep in inexpensive and simple. So far my only lighting equipment is a Canon 430EX external flash. Also, my camera is a Canon Digital Rebel XTi.

We are video taping dancers and I need some tips on sufficient lighting.? We are going to be taping in a small part of a warehouse. There is no windows and it's very dusty. The dancers are going to be moving really fast. This is not a professional taping (we are using a cam-corder ) and the only sources of light are two halogen work lights and eight flood lamps ( 4 white, 2 red, and 2 blue) There is a balcony in the warehouse with a Midget spotlight. Other lighting equipment are flueresent black lights and strobes. Where should I place the lights and how would this affect the image quality once the taping is over?

Where can I rent film equipment or hire actors in Taiwan? I'm looking to film a short Super 16mm film and am looking for the most affordable equipment (lights, cameras, tripods, etc) as this is a student production. I will be shooting in the Southern part of Taiwan around Linbian or Pingtong.
Equipment needed to connect lighting equipment to camera? I have already asked this question and do not understand the answers. Please be very kindergarten with your answers. I need to know exactly what I need to connect my Nikon d80 to 2 softboxes. I will not be using a tripod the majority of the time, so I don't want cords or anything hanging from my camera! I will most likely be buying from ebay, so if you could even give links to what i need, that would be great! Also, since softboxes are continuously on, what is the need to connect to my camera? As you can tell, I'm in the VERY beginning stages of studio photography! Please help! I don't understand the equipment and need to purchase this week! Also, starting out, am I okay with 2 softboxes, or do I need additional lights? Lastly, do the softboxes even have to be connected to the camera, or is that just if you have a flash that flashes just when you take the picture?
Three Point Lighting System Equipment? When using the 'three point lighting system', what kind of lamp and light-bulb do you use for the "key", "fill", and "back" lights? And were do you go to get them (i. e. local art store, major retailer, etc.)
Equipment/Gear for Stage lighting. Experts ONLY Please. Can you help? I'm a sound engineer for a show band. Recently they have been very dissatisifed, with the LIGHTING GAL. They say she misses her cues and doesn't really bring anything but LIGHTS to the performance. They have asked me, to perhaps write the programs, perhaps use a MIDI-FEED from my AUDIO Programs, (I'm using sonar/cakewalk) to automatically run the lights. I think it's a great Idea, however, although I have a good concept as to what the lighting SHOULD BE DOING, I don't have a clue as to the equipment required. The Band has a TRUSS and SPOTS, hung from two trees. The Lights and control board belongs to the current lighting gal, and will be leaving with her. Experts only - I need recommendations as to equipment, and software. I don't want to RE-INVENT THE wheel here, and I've done the same recommendations for STUDIO EQUIPMENT for others. Can you help? - please don't waste YOUR TIME and MY TIME, if you are not well versed in stage lighting.
