Where is a good location for a photo shoot in Manhattan?

Hi! Doing a photo shoot and would like to find some Manhattan, specifically thinking cobblestone street background, AND/OR a good classic looking street sign(for shots a la Gene Kelly Singing in the Rain) Any ideas! Thanks!!

  1. I would say one of the run down areas. The buildings looked old in the 50s film. this is my attempt at 1950s in a studio
  2. The South Street Seaport has cobblestones and older style lamps
  3. Cobblestone streets and old-style street lamps are only found in lower Manhattan (below 14th street). South Street seaport area is good (but it can get crowded); try also the West Village (between Christopher Street and 14th Street, West of Seventh Avenue) and the Lower East Side (especially in the mornings before all the cafes and businesses open up.) If you don't mind going out of Manhattan, there are many neighborhoods in Brooklyn (Carroll Gardens, Cobble Hill, Columbia Heights, parts of DUMBO) which provide exactly the look you are going for.
