Do Red Light Camera Tickets go on your Driving Record or have an effect on your Insurance?

Someone driving my car passed a red light at an intersection with a camera. Will it hurt my driving record or make my insurance go up?

Public Comments

  1. not if you can prove that it was not you driving. if you are a blonde, for instance and the person in the photo is clearly a brunette, or a different sex, then you are required to forward the ticket to the driver. the ticket will go on their record, not yours and it will not affect your insurance.
  2. Red light camera tickets do not assess points to your license. The ticket is only issued to the registered owner of the vehicle. Points can not be issued unless a police officer witnesses you committing a moving violation.
