  1. a flourescent light will really mess up you lighting for a scene. Flourescent lights will make your picture look very greenish. Unless this is the effect you want, avoid using flourescent lights. I cant really answer your question any further because I dont know what type of scene you are shooting, and the lighting varies vastly depending on the mood and style you want for a specific scene. If you want cheap but pure, good quality light, try buying white-balanced light bulbs and find some cheap ringer light mounts to put them in.
  2. Flourescent lighting is not good to use for shooting a film. But, if that's all you have, you can go to a camera store and buy filters that will filter out the greenish tint you'd get if you used it. Try getting Tungsten lighting, or something that is close to white light as possible (I think around 5500k).
  3. Go to Ikea and get one of those paper light balls ($6) and have someone hold the light over the actors head. It works great
  4. Regular work lights with diffusers on them work, depending on camera (we used furnace filters as diffusers. But if you got the budget I'd go with two kino flos and a butt load of forty watts set in a butt load of regular lamps. at least that's what all the reality shows use.
